The Principal: Robin Hull
Robin Hull, lic.phil. Dip. RSA
Robin Hull was born in Switzerland and grew up in an English-speaking family in the Zurich highlands (Zürcher Oberland). After completing the Swiss Matura at Wetzikon Grammar School (Kantonsschule Wetzikon) and a number of GCE examinations (British university entrance examinations), he took a licentiate degree in German and English Philology at the University of Zurich and qualified as a grammar school teacher.
When his father, Dr James Hull, retired from the school at the end of 1989, Robin Hull took over responsibility for Hull's School and continued to build on the tradition of high educational standards that had been established over nearly five decades. For several years he divided his time between the Swiss army, in which he rose to the rank of major, and working at his father's school as a part-time teacher and administrator.
Robin Hull takes a personal interest in all aspects of the school and maintains close contact with teachers and students. As a curator for the International Aldous Huxley Society he is actively involved in the study of literature and philosophy. He is also involved in a number of national and international bodies, serving as a Board Member for the Swiss Alpine Secondary School Davos (Schweizerische Alpine Mittelschule Davos) and as President of the Swiss Dyslexia Association (Verband Dyslexie Schweiz).
He is married to Ieva Hull, herself a dedicated teacher of English and an accomplished linguist. Robin and Ieva Hull live in the Zurich highlands with their five children.
